Design process
Layered Customization System
I developed a four layer customization system that provided structure while allowing for countless unique combinations:
- Background Selection - Choose a solid color
- Pattern Overlay - Apply geometric patterns textures or gaming inspired graphics in custom color variation
- Standalone Graphic - Select from a curated library of logos, esports team marks, gaming symbols and astro brand graphics. Ability to customize the color, size and position
- Custom Text - Add personalized text with control over font face, color, size and positioning
This layered approach made complex design accessible by breaking it into manageable decisions while still enabling sophisticated results.
Interface Design
The interface needed to feel familiar to gamers while being intuitive enough for first time users. Key features included:
- Real time preview updating instantly with each customization choice
- Contextual controls that appeared only when relevant to the current editing layer
- A simple tab based navigation for moving between customization layers
- Visual cues showing how layers interacted with each other
- Clear progression toward a finished product
Asset Library Development
We built an extensive library of gaming inspired graphics team logos patterns and typography options that:
- Respected copyright and licensing requirements
- Represented diverse gaming communities and styles
- Provided enough variety for unique expression
- Maintained consistency in visual quality and style
Technical Implementation
The tool generated high resolution print ready files while maintaining responsive performance by:
- Using vector graphics where possible for crisp scaling
- Creating output validation to ensure all designs would print properly
- Including clear bleed marks and providing explicit printing instructions to ensure proper production
